Family Self-Sufficiency Program

About the Program

The Family Self-Sufficiency Program (FSS) is designed to assist Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, Public Housing, RAD and PBV participants gain and maintain independence. Families participating in the program design a workable plan and set goals to help them to become self-sufficient over the following five-year period. The FSS Coordinator will assist the participant with accessing public and private resources to support their career goals, job training and employment. The FSS participant and the FSS Coordinator work together to develop an individual training and service plan with projected dates for completion of tasks.

Striving Toward Self-Sufficiency

Participants draw on their unique strengths and determination in striving toward self-sufficiency. Regular contact with participants offers the opportunity to problem-solve difficulties before they become barriers to self-sufficiency. Through the contract, an escrow savings account may be established as goals are met and rent is increased due to earned income. For more information about this program you may contact our Coordinators.
